Weronika & Kaiko – A Shelter Dog Who Knew Right Away He Was Home
Since January 2016, I’ve been a volunteer at the OTOZ Animals shelter in Oświęcim.
I’ve met a lot of dogs over the years – all different, all with stories to tell.
Then one day in August, a small, skinny dog arrived at the shelter.
Kaiko.
There was something about him.
Something that stopped me in my tracks.
The first time I saw him, I just knew –
he would be mine.
Less than a week later, Kaiko was home with us.
He settled in incredibly quickly.
He got along with our schnauzer mix and even the cat – no problems at all.
Kaiko is incredibly loyal.
He follows me everywhere, never letting me out of his sight –
as if he knows I’m the one who brought him out of the shelter.
The one who gave him a second chance.
From the bottom of my heart, I recommend adoption to anyone considering it.
Shelter dogs are grateful, loyal, and full of love.
If I ever get the chance again, I will absolutely adopt another.
Because sometimes, the best bonds begin in the quietest moments –
with one look through the bars of a kennel…
and a feeling that says,
“We belong together.”
