Karolina & Boldi – A Cardboard Box, a Big Heart, and a Forever Home

Let me introduce the sweetest, most perfect dog in the world –

my Boldi.

He was adopted in July 2015 from the Jastrzębie Zdrój shelter.

Why that shelter?

Because I’ve always wanted to help the animals who need it most.

I became a volunteer there.

Every day brought new faces, new wounds, new heartbreaks.

Dogs. Cats. Each with their own painful story. Each with their own quiet hope.

Then one day…

Four tiny puppies arrived.

In a cardboard box.

Left on a parking lot like garbage.

Tears streamed down my face.

And one of them – one special little soul –

caught my eye instantly.

I remember thinking, “My parents are going to kill me… I already have three cats and a dog!”

But I just couldn’t walk away.

And so, I didn’t.

I adopted him.

Boldi.

Days passed.

Weeks.

Months.

And I was head over heels.

My golden retriever, Goldi, accepted him right away.

Love at first sight.

They became inseparable.

It wasn’t easy at first.

Boldi suffered from separation anxiety.

As a puppy, he hated being left alone. He chewed everything until someone came back.

But today, things are different.

He knows he’s safe now.

He knows he’s loved.

He follows us everywhere. And we love that he does.

Boldi is energetic – as young dogs tend to be.

He loves walks, swimming, eating, lazy mornings, and most of all: goofing around with Goldi.

Adopting from the Jastrzębie Zdrój shelter is simple.

All you need is an ID, a leash, and a collar.

Since September last year, there’s a small adoption fee – to help ensure animals are valued and cared for properly.

From experience, I can say this:

People do adopt from our shelter – and often.

The animals are well looked after, they receive vet care, and even from behind the bars,

you can see they are happy.

In addition to Boldi, I’ve adopted two cats.

I’ve never regretted any of it.

My home has always been filled with animals.

But now that I know their stories –

the trauma, the betrayal, the resilience –

I know I’ll adopt again.

Without hesitation.

There are many shelters across Silesia, but I wholeheartedly recommend the one in Jastrzębie Zdrój.

Because I know it’s worth it.

I wrote this story with one message in mind:

Adopting a shelter dog is worth it.

Because their hearts are big.

And their love is real.
