Maciuś – From Bottle-Baby to Forever Love
I was his foster home. I bottle-fed this tiny baby and decided to keep him, even though he was very sick when he was little. Now he’s fully grown and 100% healthy. It was the first adoption in my life. It was also the first time I became a foster home—and I know now it was the best decision I’ve ever made.
After raising three kittens on a bottle, getting up every 2–3 hours to feed them, I decided that one of them would stay. Maciuś was very ill, and we told him that if he got better, he could stay with us forever—and so he did.
I took in the kittens through the Mondo Cane Animal Rights Foundation – Rybnik branch. I found a post looking for a temporary home for kittens, and that’s how it all started.
Since I was their foster carer, I knew their personalities well. That, and the promise I made to Maciuś, were the deciding factors in the adoption. The people responsible for adoptions at the Rybnik branch were incredibly supportive—they helped both with choosing which kitten to keep and with raising them all.
Maciuś was very small when he came to me with his siblings. He’s the only one who stayed. He didn’t have any real problems—his personality and habits were still forming.
I’m definitely open to welcoming more animals into our home. We already have plans to adopt another little one.
Adoption is the best decision you can make. If you adopt a cat or dog from a foster home, you can ask their caregiver about their personality in detail. Often, you can take a dog for a walk or visit a kitten at their temporary home. I personally recommend adoption—it brought me my tiny love.
