Aurora & Sedit – The Doberman Who Learned to Love Again
Before Sedit, we already had an adopted dog.
We chose adoption the moment we realized how many beautiful souls were waiting for homes.
And we made a promise:
As long as there’s a dog in a shelter, ours will always be adopted.
When our previous dog passed away, the house felt completely empty.
I didn’t even want to go on walks anymore.
Even though I had friends, I felt… lonely.
I had been with our dog until his very last breath.
Losing him hurt deeply.
We started searching for dogs to adopt.
There were a few we were interested in, but they had already found homes.
And then, at the end of 2013, a photo appeared on OLX –
a very skinny Doberman in terrible condition.
We looked into his eyes in the photo…
and we knew.
We called the number.
Soon after, a man from Pogotowie Dla Zwierząt brought the dog to meet us.
We didn’t hesitate.
We signed the adoption papers.
Even though Sedit settled in quickly, the beginning was hard.
He was covered in scars.
His teeth were broken.
His skin showed burns.
He didn’t like kisses. He didn’t like being touched.
Sometimes, if you petted him – he would bite.
We understood he had been through a lot.
He needed time, socialization, patience.
And over time…
The fearful dog who once bit at a gentle touch…
became a dog who asks for affection.
Who sleeps next to us.
Who comes close to be petted.
Who wants to feel close to people.
He transformed – completely.
Not just on the outside.
But on the inside, too.
I loved him from the very beginning.
But now?
I love him even more for who he has become.
I truly recommend adoption to everyone.
Not every shelter dog has trauma.
Most are just loving family pets waiting for a second chance.
But we made our choice knowing there would be work –
and knowing it would be worth it.
With the right guidance and love, any dog can become the perfect family companion.
And I believe that in every shelter or foundation, there’s a perfect dog for you.
Because every dog deserves love.
